Johannes Kepler was born on December 27, 1571 in Weil der Stadt in the county of Böblingen and in the state of Baden Württemberg in the country of Germany in the southwestern part at 2:30pm. His birthouse is now open to the public and there is a monument in the marketplace in his honor built by Sculptor Kreling in the year 1870. He died on November 15, 1630 at the age of 58 years old in Regensburg, Germany. He was buried there but due to the Thirty Years War (1618-1648) his gravestone was destroyed and thus his gravesite and body is lost for all eternity.

Kepler made contributions in the field of optics and developed a system of infinitesimals in mathematics, which was a forerunner of calculus. he also was the one that said that the sun was in the middle of the universe and that the earth revolved around it. I personally hope that one day they will do excavations and find his body and bury him under a tombstone bearing his name.
